Interactive workshop: Introduction to VAT
Tax related issues are always a hot topic among startups and scale-ups. For this reason, TQ and KPMG will be organising a series of events to help you learn about the tax systems in Europe and in particular the Netherlands.
The first session will be focused on VAT because VAT is one of those things that no-one likes to think about, however, when you start a business and when a business grows, one of the first taxes that becomes important is VAT. For this workshop, we've invited Ugurcan Boy, VAT specialist of KPMG Meijburg & Co, to give an introduction into the magical world of VAT.
Ugurcan will cover the following subjects:
- The principles of EU VAT and Dutch VAT
- How to deal with cross-border supplies
- How to calculate the right to deduct input VAT
- As the VAT return covering Q3 2019 should be filed on October 31, Ugurcan will also explain how a Dutch VAT return works
Ugurcan Boy studied economics and business at the University of Amsterdam and tax law (indirect tax) at VU University. He joined KPMG Meijburg & Co in Amstelveen in 2015. He assists a range of clients such as fashion brands, shipping companies, insurers, and pension funds with their VAT questions and M&A deals. Since 2017, he's been helping out TQ residents with their VAT questions. In his spare time he likes to travel and study Spanish.
